Safari Itinerary:

DAY 1: Depart to Bwindi National Park Safari for Gorilla Tracking

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be picked up by G.S Uganda Travel agent and then depart from Entebbe/Kampala and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park located in South western Uganda. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to half the number of mountain gorillas in the whole world. It is also the only place where chimpanzees co-exist with Mountain Gorillas.

En route you have a stopover at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe to take photographs and observe a simple experiment before continuing to Mbarara town for Lunch. Later embark on the scenic view drive (long horned cattle, banana plantations, Kigezi highland, etc) to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

DAY 2: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi impenetrable National Park

Have an early morning breakfast, pack your lunch and report to the Park Headquarters at about 7:45 am for registration and then have a briefing with the tour guides about the Dos and the Don’ts during your Gorilla Tracking safari. Start your gorilla trek that will take you half an hour to three quarters of the day through the steeply forested landscape which is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails. The amount of time taken for the trek largely depends on the movement of the gorillas. But it is an extraordinary feeling being with these beautiful yet endangered Creatures. As you trek have some time and have lunch before continuing with the trek, one is also likely to spot other primates, birds and rare tree species. After finding the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them before trekking back to the Park headquarter where you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and in recognition of your contribution to the conservation effort.Mountain Gorilla safaris

DAY 3: Golden Monkeys Tracking in Mgahinga National Park.

After early morning breakfast, drive to Mgahinga National Park for briefing with the tour guides and then go for golden monkey tracking have your parked lunch en-route the trek. This golden monkeys walk will expose you to other attractions in the park before returning back to your hotel for overnight

DAY 4: Transfer Back To Kampala or Entebbe International Airport

Have early morning breakfast and then start on the journey back to Kampala or Entebbe for your post tour accommodation or you may choose to fly out of Uganda on this day. You will have lunch en-route(Mbarara city) the journey and again you will have another chance to make a stopover at Mpabire village for local crafts and drum making place, to get your self some of the African crafts on your way back to Kampala.

What You need for Gorilla and Golden Monkey tracking

  • Water: Gorilla trekking and Golden monkeys tracking can be very tiresome and you need to refill your tank as the trek goes on. It is advisable to park a few water filtration tablets before you come for the trek.
  • Boots: You will need good waterproof comfortable shoes. Sometimes it rains during the trek, so skid proof shoes can come in handy.
  • Rain Jacket: You are advised to carry rain jacket because it rains very often in Mgahinga forest
  • Snack: You can carry a light snack to give you some energy during the walk in the forest
  • Trouser and Shirts Mgahinga forest is covered with thick undergrowth, therefore light trousers and long sleeved shirts are advised.
  • Socks: You will have to tuck in the trousers into the socks to avoid insects crawling inside.
  • Gloves: You will need Gardening gloves because you will be grabbing tree branches, leaves, name it, and some can be thorny.
  • Camera: Carry a good camera (no flash for gorillas) to capture this lifetime experience
