Overview

If you can’t afford the lavish cost of mountain gorilla tracking, then visiting one of the five habituated groups of chimpanzees here is a very worthy substitute, not to mention a far less financially draining one.

Kibale Forest National Park is the best place for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda. There are 13 species of primates that have been recorded in the park, which is the highest number in Uganda. Aside from chimpanzee, several species can usually be found on the primate walks. Birds and butterflies are abundant.

About Kibale Forest National Park

The Kibale Forest National Park – Fort Portal area is one of Uganda’s most rewarding destinations to explore. The park lies close to the tranquil Ndali-Kasenda crater area and within half a day’s drive of the Queen Elizabeth, Rwenzori Mountains and Semuliki National Parks, as well as the Toro-Semliki Wildlife Reserve.

Kibale Forest National Park is about 760 sq kms in size. It has a very large and varied number of primates. Altogether about thirteen species. These include red, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, baboons and a large number of chimpanzees. Also, the dense rain forest habitat is good to see.the rare birding spicies in bigodi wetland like:Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler, White-collared Oliveback and Papyrus Canary.

DAY 1: Kibale Forest National Park Uganda.

Early morning at your Hotel. You will be picked up and driven to Fort Portal district via Mubende. You will make stops at Nakayima tree shrine believed to be hosting the spirit of Nakayima. Uganda Safari

You will also make other stops at different fascinating places along the way. From here, you will have a lunch break before touching down late afternoon in Fort Portal. You will spend your night at either Ndali Logde or Crater Valley Kibale.

DAY 2: Chimpanzee trekking

Early morning regroup at the lodge. Prepare for an early morning walk through Kibale Forest National Park in search of chimps and other primates. Your journeys with the experienced guides will give you a lot of insight into the lives of primates and will shock you at how well organized and close to human beings these animals are. Later on you will take a walk to Bigodi wetland for birds and other primates living around this swampy area. In the evening, you will retire at either Ndali Logde or Crater Valley Kibale

DAY 3:Visit to Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru and drive back to Kampala.

In the morning you will head out towards Amabere Ga Nyinamwiru. You will come face to face with stalactites and stalagmites. Have a walk around the trees and take some breathtaking pictures before you go back to the lodge to have lunch.

You will proceed to Kampala and arrive early evening. Retire to your Hotel for the night.
